Finished Project! Pressed Flowers Shawl in Cricket

Like pretty much everyone else in the knitting universe, I am enamored with the Pressed Flowers series from designer (and delightful human) Amy Christoffers. I really love how mosaic knitting can replicate the look of woven fabrics, in particular my absolute favorite structure, overshot. The little all-over flowers in Amy's designs are both geometric and organic, which lends themselves so wonderfully to a knit fabric. When considering which Pressed Flowers to make, I first decided on the shawl. For my version, I choose a very (very) subtle combo of cream and light gray in Cricket, our single ply Donegal wool. I am not a huge shawl wearer, but do love a cozy layer and know I will get a lot of use out of this one, even if only while sitting in the chill warehouse this winter.I opted to omit the border pattern and bind off after 11 body repeats, which is more practical for my personal use. Every once in a while while knitting (especially at night), I wondered if the pattern was too subtle, but I am thrilled with the end result and love the way the Donegal flecks in the yarn play off one another. But that's not all! I loved the pattern so much, I also made the hat, this time in Andorra! For this version, I went with a higher contrast and used Dijon and Cloud Gray.I worked a wicked deep folded brim for my version, a favorite (and necessary, IMO) feature of any good warm hand knit hat. The fit is perfection and I love how much the light flowers pop on the background, and the mohair halo makes for a super soft and warm hat.Friends and I went to Vermont last weekend for the Sheep and Wool Festival, and used the absolutely spectacular weather and foliage to take some pics. I also got to wear my sample of the Daingean Pullover (made in Erin) for a bit, which was delightful!Have you made a Pressed Flowers (or two)? Which design is your favorite?
