Introducing Keystone, the newest addition to the beloved Germantown family from Kelbourne Woolens.
Built for real-life and made to last, Keystone is a classic, easy-care worsted weight yarn that perfectly blends practicality with purpose. Designed for knitters and crocheters who want dependable quality without compromising on values, Keystone is crafted from a thoughtful blend of 70% deadstock acrylic, and 30% North American wool. The result? A soft, sturdy, and versatile yarn as ideal for baby garments and dog sweaters as it is for heirloom afghans or community outreach projects.
Why North American wool? Dyeing raw fiber is just one step in the multi part process of manufacturing Germantown. By blending the same wool that is used in Germantown with the deadstock acrylic, we're expanding the use of the fiber, which in turn, reduces waste and increases supply chain efficiency.
Why deadstock? When sourcing the raw materials for an easy-care, affordable yarn, we took great care when considering the acrylic. Working directly with the mill that makes Germantown, we're utilizing more than 59,000 pounds of acrylic fiber abandoned in their warehouse. This is fiber that would otherwise have gone to waste or ended up in a landfill.
Keystone is proudly 100% made in the USA, supporting domestic manufacturing, bypassing tariffs, and championing sustainability. By using surplus deadstock materials, we’re helping reduce waste in the textile industry and giving new life to existing resources. Keystone is a yarn that works hard for your projects and makes practical use of what’s already available.

from 204 reviewsI have been knitting for a year and a half now and I have used yarns I like and yarns I don't but I hadn't found one that I would call a favorite yearn but the Germantown DK has just claimed the spot as my first favorite yarn to work with. It's so soft and squishy and has amazing stitch definition. I will definitely be doing more projects with this yarn in the future.
Bought a bunch of these mini balls for cozy heels and toes.
The pattern looked difficult but was easy to knit and the pattern fun to do. Thanks for a great knit!
Came into the store looking for yarn (hehe) but found these cool stitch markers. I decided to treat myself to them. Got home and used them right away to mark some increases on my Sophie hood. Would buy them again :)
This was my first time using Loch Lomond and it won’t be my last! I just finished knitting the Kaleidoscope Sweater for my toddler and it was the perfect yarn. Soft enough for her to wear, yet durable enough I know it will continue to look good long after she outgrows it. Ready to order some more for myself now!!
Love Cricket! Works well and the project stays crisp making it easy to shape.
I cannot get enough of this yarn. I am nearly finished a sweater in the beautiful deep blue color. Currently, I am knitting a sweater (all stockinette) using the Ocean color with trim in Fog. I cannot say enough about the color and feel of Ocean. I am taking my time with this project because I love the beauty of Ocean.
Thrilled, as always, to get my purchase. I know I am getting the highest quality merchandise. Just wish I had more money to spend at Kelbourne!
I’m delighted with my Scout yarn. It is so pleasing to handle and looks really nice in the pattern I’m knitting. My order came promptly.
Cricket is the perfect yarn for color work
This yarn is incredible and everything I hoped it would be! Gorgeous color and lovely feel.
This yarn was pleasantly wonderful to work with. It holds stitch definition extremely well and it made my cables pop. I’m using it to do a cardigan and I’m loving every moment. The colors are so dimensional, even though it is a solid color there are flex of different colors in it that complement it very well. I can’t wait to wear this cause I know it will go with a lot of my outfits! I highly recommend this yarn to anyone and I myself will purchase more of it
I’m delighted with this yarn and am really enjoying working with it! It’s slightly rustic but not at all itchy. It knits up beautifully and I can tell that the sweater I’m knitting will last for many years!
I purchased this yarn to make the Douglas cardigan by Andrea Mowry. So far I'm loving it!
I've used Harmony twice for sweaters, carrying along with Germantown Bulky & Lucky Tweed. It adds a lovely depth of color and a touch of sheen with the silk, blooms beautifully when blocked, and helps to build a cohesive fabric - fills in any mistakes subtly - like picking up at saddle shoulders, etc. Will continue to return to this base for all my mohair needs :)
