This hat and mitten set is worked in the round from the cuff/brim up. Either accessory – or the set! – would make a great introduction to working cables from a chart or cabling without a cable needle.

GAUGE 19 sts and 25 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in Hat Pattern on larger needles, after blocking.Mitten Cable (5 sts) = 1.25” (3.2 cm) wide on larger needles, after blocking.
NEEDLES 1 – set US 7 (4.5 mm) DPNs, 1 – US 7 (4.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular.1 – set US 9 (5.5 mm) DPNs, 1 – US 9 (5.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular.
NOTIONS Tapestry needle, stitch holders or waste yarn, stitch markers, cable needle.
SIZE Hat, 17 (20.25)” [43 (51.5) cm] head circumference, unstretched; will stretch to about 20 (23.5)” [51 (59.5) cm]. Mittens; 6.75 (7.75, 8.5)” [17 (19.5, 21.5) cm] hand circumference and 8.5 (10, 10.75)” [21.5 (25.5, 27.5) cm] long from CO to end of hand.
