Year of Gifts Kit - January Snowdrop Hat
Year of Gifts Kit - January Snowdrop Hat
Sold out
This graphic, slouchy knit hat is knit in Andorra using stranded colorwork in ink black and snow white. It is the kickoff design in the Year of Gifts collection, and is one of our most popular patterns. Check out it's sister design, the Newbold sweater! The Snowdrop Hat by Kate Gagnon Osborn begins with a provisional cast on, then a folded brim is worked in a K2, P2 Ribbing. Once the ribbing is complete, the provisional cast on is unpicked and placed on a spare circular needle and the stitches are joined to created a folded brim.
After the brim is complete, the body of the hat is worked in a graphic stranded colorwork pattern from a chart. The chart is worked 5 times around. Decreases shape the crown, and a pom pom and a cute custom KW tag completes the look.
Kit Includes:
• 1 skein of Andorra in Snow White
• 1 skein of Andorra in Ink Black
• 1 custom KW leather tag
• 2 Perennial butterflies in Natural and Black

from 53 reviewsKnit up a Opa cardigan for my husband, the yarn was so comfortable to work with and is comfortable to wear.
Scout is a favorite to knit with and the colors are stunning! So cozy!
Camper is a great yarn! I love the way it feels, the texture of the spin is consistent and knits up to a beautiful fabric. And, I haven't had any tangles or twists in my skeins. I bought the color-way Orchid Heather; its such a beautifully nuanced color choice. The color and yarn combo give the final product an irresistible sheen.
I bought Germantown because it was recommended for the Herman the Hermit Crab pattern. I’m just learning to crochet. Germantown is a twisted fiber of 4 strands twisted together and I find it difficult to work with because the 4 strands keep separating. Might be due to being a beginner but it is frustrating. Also priced pretty high so the Hermit Crab costs $64 to make… kinda pricey IMO.
I’ve knit two sweaters with Lucky Tweed—so I’m pretty sure I “know” the yarn, but being able to see and feel the yarn is the best. In fact, I’ll be adding at least 2 more lucky tweed sweaters to my wardrobe this winter! Thank you for making them available.
I ordered this yarn in the solstice space dye color and it is so pretty! Love the feel and weight of the yarn too
Very nice pattern
Your yarns are lovely to knit with. I’ll be back !
Using this for a t shirt along with duo, I love how soft it is!
I am currently crocheting a sweater with the blue heather yarn and I love it!! I had previously bought yarn from a store, and I needed to order more online. It shipped very fast, and the customer service was great! Super eager to finish this sweater so I can wear it and show it off!
I’ve made two garments with Scout in the past two months and I really enjoyed working with it. I’m a fan - love the color choices and the product. I have one more garment in the works and will definitely purchase this yarn again.
This might be the nicest yarn I have ever used. Block’s beautifully. And I love seeing the more than 20 colors it comes in!
I bought this wool at a local yarn store and it’s my first experience working with something other than acrylic blend. It’s expensive, but so soft, squishy, easy to work with, and easily worth the price. I would recommend this to anyone!
I bought 3 skeins from Apricot Yarns website which has a big button that says “Would you like your yarn wound” before realizing I’d need more for a project. Somehow found myself on the Kelbourne site direct and while the yarn is absolutely beautiful and I will look to Kelbourne again for future projects, I was pretty dismayed to see that the yarn came in a hank. I don’t have any independent yarn stores nearby and had to hand wind…which went poorly lol. Please make it more obvious how to select winding or consider winding by default. My top the Summer Stream tee which is a free pattern from For The Frills.
Lovely yarn, terrific service!

Kate and Courtney met while working in a local yarn store in Philadelphia, PA; Courtney was a new mom and Kate was in her final year of grad school. Together they founded Kelbourne Woolens at Kate's kitchen table, and have been working side by side ever since.
