I spent a good portion of early January deep cleaning and organizing my home studio. An open, multi-purpose space, it is adjacent to our attic in a room that also serves as an art space for the girls, music room for Owen, and storage closet. The constant item creep into other "zones" makes organization difficult, even in the best of times, and things got especially bad this fall when every spare moment I had was spent making in lieu of cleaning (can you blame me?!)
I'm still not yet finished, but the space is exponentially better than it was, and - bonus! - I was able to take the time to unearth all of my works in progress, re-bag and seal my stash, and make some clear plans for the coming year. Doing so reminded me of my Make 9 in 2020, some 400,000 years ago, so I put together a new grid, this time for 2025!
1. Pattern: Esther Sweater by PetiteKnits
Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Harmony & Scout. With the addition of Harmony to the Kelbourne Woolens line, this sweater has jumped to the top of my "must make" list. I love the casual style and stitch pattern, and while I still need to swatch I think it will look amazing once I find the perfect color pairing.
2. Pattern: Cargill Sweater by Rebecca Clow
Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Andorra. I think I'm going to need a break from all the fuzz, and as we just received an Andorra restock, the avocado is really calling to me.
3. Pattern: Fall Sweater by Courtney Kelley
Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Andorra. The whole KW Team loves this sweater (obvs), and we even went as far as to dream up some color options. This is the year I finally make one for myself!
4. Pattern: Korshavn by Tonje Hodne
Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Harmony & Lucky Tweed. Another winning design made possible by Harmony! I have this one swatched up already in old rose and rust and it is chef's kiss, and - more importantly - to gauge!
5. Pattern: Calm Down Cardigan by Lily Kate
Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Mojave. I cannot tell you the number of times a year I wish I had a nice, simple, classic, little black cardigan. With the addition of some new Mojave colors this year (spoiler alert!), my dream is closer to reality.
6. Pattern: Moonflower Collar by Sari Nordlund
Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Harmony & Scout. Not going to lie, I am charmed by a cute dickie. And the practicality! A win/win in my book.
7. Pattern: Laurel Hill by yours truly
Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Camper. I love this design and have always wanted to see what it would look like knit in bright and high contrast colors. This will be a super fun swatch to figure out!
8. Pattern: Forever Vest by Karen Templer
Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Germantown. Admittedly I'm cheating with this one a bit as I cast on last October while up in Vermont with friends (Karen included!), but it hasn't seen the light of day since then. I need to block what progress I have so far, check my gauge in the textured pattern, and decide on a length.
9. Pattern: Back Yoke Sweater by Noriko Ichikawa
Yarn: Navia Brushed Tradition. I really love the construction on this sweater, and know Brushed Tradition makes a really stunning garment. The gauge is a little denser than I am used to for the Brushed Tradition, so there will be the necessary swatching, but if it works, it will be lovely!
