Esme is worked in pieces from the bottom up. The body and sleeves are worked in stockinette stitch, and the front is worked in an allover ribbed cable pattern. When working the fronts, in order for the stitch pattern on the collar to line up, it is imperative that you work each side for the same number of rows. Work the fronts for the same number of rows as for the back to the armholes and armhole shaping.
Seam sides and sew in sleeves before picking up for the collar. The button on front is decorative. The cardigan is held closed by two sets of metal snaps sewn in at the end.
