Olde City and York from the Lucky Tweed Collection

Projects that require very little from the maker, but give back happiness ten-fold are commonly referred to as “candy knitting”. Cowls and hats fall under the category of “candy knitting” and Olde City and York from the Lucky Tweed Collection are two sweet treats!

Red haired female wearing a Lucky Tweed donegal merino wool fisherman's rib bulky cowl in 006 black.
Olde City is SO Meghan; she loves a hefty, plump cowl in Fisherman’s Rib, and had to have one in Lucky Tweed’s black for this winter. This project began as a selfish knit, but she quickly realized that everyone else might also like a simple, super gratifying cowl project to kick off fall knitting, too. The epitome of candy knitting!

This cowl is worked in the round with two strands of Lucky Tweed held together on big needles to create a puffy, appealing gauge. A simple Fishmerman’s Rib adds to the loft of the stitches making for big visual impact with little fuss. Olde City whips up in no time flat, so prepare yourself for several requests! Meghan really wants to see Olde City in, well, colors, and is even planning a two-color brioche version!

Aside from all the little bobble clusters, York features a gentle lace pattern that is easy to memorize and works up so quickly that you might find it difficult to make just one!
