Introducing Kelbourne Woolens Germantown

2018 marks the ten year anniversary of Kelbourne Woolens and we are celebrating this milestone with something we have been dreaming about for a long, long time: Our own line of quality, affordable, classic yarns.

We are proud to announce the fourth and final yarn celebrating our ten year anniversary: Germantown. An icon of American craft, Germantown was originally developed in Philadelphia in the early 1800s. The name Germantown is synonymous with a good quality worsted yarn and we are delighted to be able to reintroduce this U.S. sourced and spun classic to the market.

A labor of love and research over many years, inspiration for the initial 18 colors came directly from Germantown's long history as America's first yarn. We worked hard to reproduce it as 100% U.S. sourced and manufactured and are incredibly proud to be able to bring this yarn back to the market after so long!

THE GERMANTOWN COLLECTION

The building blocks of knitting.
We're going back to basics with the introductory designs for the Germantown Collection. With a focus on accessories, the collection will be the perfect resource for shops faced with beginner knitters wondering "What's next??" Each design - think classic hats, mittens, and scarves - will have multiple versions and options, giving the knitter choices in what skills they want to use and learn.

We’ll share individual skein and color info, and more about the designs - including all of the extra features in the patterns - next week!

Introducing Kelbourne Woolens Mojave

2018 marks the ten year anniversary of Kelbourne Woolens and we are celebrating this milestone with something we have been dreaming about for a long, long time: Our own line of quality, affordable, classic yarns.

In celebration of our ten year anniversary, we are launching a small selection of yarns throughout the year. Each season will bring a new Kelbourne Woolens yarn to celebrate all the things we love most about knitting, crochet, and our community.

We are excited to introduce our third Kelbourne Woolens yarn, Mojave to the market. Debuting on the Summer Solstice, this yarn celebrates warm weather and long, sunny days.

Meghan’s love of cellulose-based fibers led to the development of Mojave. It is a DK weight yarn, consisting of five sets of very fine 2-plys. The result is a lightweight yarn that is strong and smooth with great stitch definition. This pima cotton and linen blend is as pleasant to knit with as it is to wear, and, as a bonus, it can be machine-washed!

KELBOURNE WOOLENS MOJAVE

SPECIFICATIONS

60% cotton, 40% linen
185 yds (169 meters) / 50 gram skein
22 - 24 sts = 4" (10 cm)
US 4 - 6 (3.5 - 4 mm)

Color Palette

Mojave's color palette is driven by Meghan's love of bright, cheerful colors. Kate did get her fair share of neutrals as well, and some of them even veer towards purple - Courtney's favorite! The end result is a color palette that is perfectly Kelbourne with a summery twist!

The Mojave Collection

Simple, straightforward silhouettes for summer.
The Mojave Collection is all about optimizing summer knitting for hot-weather wearing. Featuring six garments perfect for warm summer days, this collection celebrates the long days of summer. From the boardwalk to the desert, sleeveless tanks and summer sweaters are quick to knit and fun to wear.
