Germantown is our made in the USA wool yarn perfect for knitting, crocheting, or any craft that makes you happy.
It’s been five amazing yearns since we launched Germantown yarn, our first yarn made completely in North America. Our first words in the initial launch post still ring as true as ever:
An icon of American craft, Germantown was originally developed in Philadelphia in the early 1800s. The name Germantown is synonymous with a good quality worsted yarn and we are delighted to be able to reintroduce this U.S. sourced and spun classic to the market.
A labor of love and research over many years, inspiration for the initial 18 colors came directly from Germantown’s long history as America’s first commercial yarn. We worked hard to reproduce it as 100% U.S. sourced and manufactured, and are incredibly proud to be able to bring this yarn back to the market after so long!
There are now 38 colors of Germantown, as well as a Germantown Unicorn from time to time. We add more colors every year and hope that one day the palette is so robust that everyone can find their perfect color – like a box of crayons, but made of wool!
