While Lana was crocheting up her Sub Rosa for the Kelbourne Woolens Crochet Collection she also whipped up a petite version of her granny square motif into earrings with a note exclaiming, “I couldn’t help myself!”
Sub Rosa Earrings

Kelbourne Woolens Mojave (60% cotton, 40% linen; 185 yds/50 gm skein): smoke gray 046 (MC), plum brown 213 (CC), appx. 10 yards each.
Motifs = 2” (5 cm) square.
US E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook.
Check your gauge and adjust hook size accordingly if necessary.
French hooks, tapestry needle, iron or steamer (optional).
2” (5 cm) square.
Chain, slip stitch, half double crochet, double crochet.
With CC, make an adjustable ring.
Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, [ch 2, 3 dc in ring] 3 times, ch 2, sl st to top of beg ch. Pull ring closed. Do not turn. (12 dc)
Rnd 2: Join MC, ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp, [dc in next 3 dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times, sl st to top of beg ch. Fasten off, leaving a tail. (28 dc)
Make 2 for set.
Weave in CC. Lightly steam press. Using MC tail, attach earring findings. Weave in MC.
