The Perennial Collection: Revisiting Old Friends

What’s old is new again.

In our post introducing Perennial, Courtney wrote about how Perennial was inspired by an old favorite and long discontinued yarn—Schaefer Yarns, Anne. In that same vein, we decided to approached our design collection for Perennial with remaking, rejuvenating, and refreshing in mind.

We took a stroll through our pattern archives unearthing our most-loved and timeless designs. Naturally, several of those designs were sweet baby garments, which have received lots of love over the years on Ravelry and on the babies that have come into our lives since their original premiere.

Courtney’s baby daughter, Gilda, made her modeling debut surrounded by colorful paper flowers, pillows, and blankets. She charmed us and occasionally cried while we all acted like a bunch of muppets behind the camera to make her laugh.

What we love the most about the updated versions of these designs is they are all machine washable! Not a droplet of sweat issued from any of our brows at the thought of a bit of spit up or baby food hitting the sample during the photoshoot. Perennial is baby proof!

Despite Gilda stealing the spotlight, the grownup Perennial revamps deserve almost as much love. Our inspiration for this collection is very obvious—flowers. 🌸 After a very successful trip to the flower shop and much bouquet arranging later we had a colorful explosion of perennial flowers to complement the fun, spring appropriate designs we refreshed.

We are particularly fond of Yangtze—it’s the perfect black cardigan that everyone should have in their wardrobe. It’s office appropriate, warm enough, but just the right light layer that you’ll reach for over and over again.

Courtney loves it so much she is threatening to make another one in Caribbean or Neon Coral.

We hope you love this updated collection as much as we do. We put together a lookbook for you to enjoy the collection and view all the details for each design.

All the patterns are available for individual download via Ravelry.

A Moment to Reflect…

While we are pleased to announce this collection on the first day of Spring here in the Northern Hemisphere, like many of you, our hearts have been heavy with grief for our Muslim brothers and sisters in New Zealand following the terrorist attacks on two mosques in Christchurch during Friday prayers last week. The global outpouring of support for the Muslim community in New Zealand has been inspiring, as has the response from the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern.

We want to recognize this tragedy and respond through our platforms. If you choose to make a purchase of one of our Perennial Collection patterns from now until the end of day Friday, March 22nd (12am EST), 100% of the proceeds will go to CAIR-PA. CAIR and CAIR-CAN is the Council on American-Islamic Relations, based in Washington, DC with offices all over the US and Canada. You can read their ten core principles here, and see if you have a local office here. We have chosen to donate specifically to CAIR-PA to support our city’s large Muslim population, as well as show our support for their Anti-Bullying Workshops and the Muslim Youth Leadership Program. CAIR and CAIR-PA are approved by the Charities Review Council and has received a Gold Seal of Transparency from GuideStar.

We are honored to do what little we can to help alleviate the suffering of others. We hope you will join us in making a donation either to CAIR through a pattern purchase, or to an organization of your choice.
