Designer Feature: Assemblance by Amy Gunderson

You may remember we had a chat with Amy Gunderson a little while ago about Canyon, her design in our KW Crochet Collection, and we’re delighted to feature another design by her for fall in Germantown! Assemblance, from Knitty Deep Fall 2019, is a fun, inventive, and unique exercise cables. Amy said it best: “Assemblance combines basic cables with a graphic pattern to create a sweater that's fun to wear and a blast to knit. The sleeves are extra long to give a slouchy feel, and the body is slightly cropped. If you prefer a longer length, simply add more length to the ribbing before beginning the cable crosses.” We couldn’t agree more! Knitty ranks Assemblance at as “piquant,” which means it’s just right for a knitter looking for a medium spice level of cable-y goodness. The symmetrical cables provide a logical and orderly way to keep track of all the cable rows, as you are mirroring cables on either side of the front. The back and sleeves of this sweater feature a simple, all over garter welt that’s delightful to work after completing the busy front. We love the slouchy arm construction of the sleeves in contrast to the slightly cropped body. It’s totally a 90s throw-back silhouette that has us searching for our scrunchies, flowy skirts, and Doc Martens. Check out our tutorials on cabling without a cable needle, mattress stitch, and more, for a successful Assemblance in no time flat! Germantown is available at our retail partners, including Jimmy Beans Wool, where Amy works as their Yarn Director!
