Scout Collection: Powell

Throughout the process of creating and growing the Kelbourne Woolens line of yarns, it has been really fun to see how Meghan and I have responded to Courtney's yarn, and then how Courtney and Meghan responded to my yarn. While I took a much more traditional approach to Scout, Meghan and Courtney designed sweaters with a little bit more modern and classic feel. For Meghan's design, Powell, she wanted to create a classic pullover with a knit purl pattern that mimicked stripes. From Meghan: I love a good, basic pullover sweater in the same way that I love my favorite book. It's familiar and comfortable but always interesting. In Powell's case, this includes some subtle details, nothing fancy, in the way of a textured chevron stitch pattern and a well-fitted armhole. Made in a great yarn, this will become a classic that can be worn year after year. The Powell sweater was designed with this idea in mind. Like a favorite book that you return to each year. Powell has all of the classic details that makes for a great sweater: the pieces are knit flat and then seamed, the arms and armholes feature set in sleeve shaping, the body is designed with slight ease, and the neck is picked up and worked in the round once the other finishing is complete. The end result is just as Meghan envisioned: a wardrobe staple that you will want to put on time and time again.
