There is something incredibly satisfying and thrilling about design a yarn and pattern support to go along with it, but it is a whole other thing to see others be inspired by and create patterns in the yarn!
The July 2018 Twist Collective was published recently, and the issue includes lovely mosaic shawl designed by Nancy Vandivert using two colors of Kelbourne Woolens Andorra.
A traditional triangle shawl worked in two colors from the top down, the shawl features wide stripes of mosaic patterning alternating with garter ribbing.
Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Andorra, Cloud Gray 057, 5 skeins, and Eggplant 504, 3 skeins.
Gauge: 21 sts and 33 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch, after blocking.
Needles: US 4.
Size: 74” / 188 cm wide and 38” / 96.5 cm depth at center.
The mosaic stitches are a great way to play around with color without having to jump right into stranded colorwork. They also lend themselves well to subtle color contrast or bold combinations – the possibilities are endless!
