Our 10th Anniversary Year has been filled with new adventures, and this summer and fall we’re thrilled to be bringing you lots of new products we feel good about. In between developing the Kelbourne Woolens line of yarns, this season we are happy to be adding more yarns to our BC Garn offerings for fall, and bringing a new line to the North American market from the Faroe Islands, Navia! TNNA is a industry-only trade show that happens twice a year, and it’s our opportunity to show our retailers what we have available for them for the upcoming season. We will be in Booth 1013 and if you’re at the show be sure to drop in and say, “Hello!”
BC Garn, a family owned Danish yarn company, was founded in 1972 as Væveværkstedet i Barrit. Their initial focus on high-quality weaving yarns has evolved into a line of luxury organic and ecologically minded hand knitting yarns, offered at an affordable and competitive price.
BC Garn is known for quality yarns, and many are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) – the highest international standard for organic fiber production.
BIO SHETLAND
We have a new yarn to offer for early fall from BC Garn. Bio Shetland is a GOTS Certified 100% organic wool yarn. Bio Shetland is an homage to the classic Shetland 2-ply fingering and is perfect for colorwork.
Note: It is not wool from Shetland sheep, nor is it spun on the Shetland Islands. GOTS certification means that every step, from the farm to the warehouse must meet GOTS standards. There are currently no GOTS certified Shetland flocks or processing facilities.
Bio Shetland is a soft, organic, beautifully heathered wool yarn. Each color contains many shades, giving a distinctive depth to the final product. The yarn is perfect for kids and adult garments and is ideal for cables, lace, and Fair Isle. Bio Shetland works well on the loom as well as the knitting machine.
Bio Shetland is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard. GOTS certification requires that all stages of the production are ecologically, environmentally, and ethically sustainable from start to finish. The growing conditions, dye processes, waste water treatment, and fair and ethical working conditions must meet GOTS standards. GOTS is the only internationally recognized organic certification.
