As Karen mentioned yesterday, we have all been blown away by the #summerofbasics feed, and all of the wonderful, inspiring, and high-quality garments that came as a result of this make-along. After changing my mind numerous times, I did manage to finish three pieces this summer (at the very last minute), all of which are sure to become wardrobe staples. Linette was gracious enough to take some shots of me last week, so stay tuned for those over the next few days!
I was really excited to head the Best Modification/Alteration category for a few reasons, but mainly because I really enjoy the process of tweaking pieces to really make them my own.
From the very beginning, Linda Warlin‘s whole feed was really inspirational (please also check out this spectacular Cockatoo Brae!) and I am so happy to announce her as the winner!
For her sweater, she used Polly by Linnéa Öhman, and modified it to be a pullover and added the cable and seed stitch pattern down the front.
L / Polly. R / Linda’s finished sweater.
It is amazing to see how Linda took the basic components of the design that she liked – the top down construction and seamless set-in sleeves – and made just a few changes to create a custom sweater of her very own! Congrats, Linda! Please email us at info@kelbournewoolens.com so we can arrange to send you your 4 skeins of The Fibre Co. Arranmore Light!
Although Linda’s sweater is amazing, picking a winner was incredibly difficult. I want to celebrate everyone who not only created pieces for their wardrobe, but took it a step further and added modifications to make the items their very own. Make sure to check the whole #sob17bestmod feed to check out all of the awesomeness!
Don’t forget to check out Grainline Studio tomorrow for the Best Combination of Garments prize and Fancy Tiger Crafts on Friday for the Best First prize! And check this space tomorrow for my first F.O. post – my modified Birch Bay!
