My closet is calling out for a pullover in The Fibre Co. Arranmore. I originally thought about working up a Finn Valley, but I already have a cabled sweater out of a Donegal yarn I bought while on our trip to Ireland in 2015, so colorwork it is!
When pulling colors to swatch, I had St. Brendan in mind. When I sat down later in the evening to start knitting, I realized I had five colors in hand, and the design only calls for four. I have always wanted to recreate Isadora on a larger scale (Clawthorpe is the "adult" version of Isadora, but in a similar gauge), so I set to swatching the zig-zag band pattern of that design.
The five colors I chose are Glenveagh Castle, Laidan, St. Claire, Cronan, and Donaghy. I love how the new colors that were introduced this season, Laidan (mid-tone grey) and Donaghy (mid-done brown) make such nice gradation between the original neutrals in the line.
I've settled on this order for the sleeve cuffs and hem, with the Glenveagh Castle as the main color of the body. (Can't get enough of that charcoal grey!) Who knows what the final yoke will end up looking like - yokes tend to evolve as I work - but for now, I know I can most definitely crank out a body and sleeves in the aran weight Arranmore in time for mid-winter to set in.
