For those who love the craft as much as we do.

Designer Feature: Bash by Linda Dubec / Pom Pom Quarterly

By Kate Gagnon Osborn on May 8, 2017July 5, 2022

Since its first issue in 2012, Pom Pom Quarterly has been a leading influencer of design and style in our industry. With its lovely hand-drawn schematics and techniques, its support of crochet, tasty recipes, and innovative designs, the magazine has been a favorite of ours from the beginning. (So much so, we’re proud to call ourselves among its wonderful advertisers!)

The 5th anniversary issue, Spring 2017, recently hit newsstands, and it is – again – a winner! (I, for one, am desperate to cast on for Soirée.) The issue features a wonderful, modern colorwork hat, Bash, designed by Linda Dubec using The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering.

From the issue:

“Beginning with a tubular cast on, Bash is worked in the round, from the bottom up. The single rib brim is worked to double length and folded back. Chart repeats build the colourwork pattern to the correct height of the hat, and then the remainder of the chart is completed. Duplicate stitch is used to highlight some of the arrows and a pompom is made in the same colour.”

SPECIFICATIONS
Yarn: The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering:  Eden Valley; Yew Tree;  Buttermere; 1 (1) skein each.
Gauge: 30 sts & 34 rows = 10 cm / 4” over colourwork pattern on 3 mm needles after blocking.
Needles: 3 mm / US 2½ knitting needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round.
Sizes:  46.5 (51.5) cm / 18¼ (20¼)” – to be worn with 5 cm / 2” negative ease.

You can view the issue on the Pom Pom site here, or on Ravelry here.

Congrats, Meghan, Lydia, and Amy and many wishes for your continued success!
