Designer Feature: #10 Cowl by Judy Hackett

The Spring/Summer Issue of Vogue was recently released, an included is a cowl designed by Judy Hackett using The Fibre Co. Canopy Fingering. Worked in two high contrasting colors, purple passion and obsidian, the cowl is knit back and forth using the double knitting technique. The end result is a structured and drapey reversible cowl.

The graphic design is a traditional Sanquhar pattern – typically created using stranded colorwork – and the issue also includes an article on the historical Scottish knitting technique by archivist and designer Angharad Thomas. The Cowl is just one of five patterns featured as modern interpretations of this unique and storied design.
