Last week after a short 20-minute drive, Linette and I arrived at one of our favorite local yarn shops just outside of Philadelphia. One of my jobs greatest pleasures is chatting with shop owners and managers on the phone. So it’s really a joy to actually be able to speak in person.
Run and owned by Clare Fullerton, Slip Knot is located in Newtown Square, PA. Clare was rocking her Stone Point poncho knit in Luma in the color Blanca, and helping costumers when we arrived.
We had been planning this visit for some time and were so excited to finally make it over! Slip Knot is a lovely LYS that showcases a wide range of beautiful yarns and the latest pattern trends. Clare makes sure that Slip Knot maintains a large inventory of knitted and crocheted samples in all the yarns she carries for her customers to see and be inspired by.
After perusing the front of the shop where there was so much to see and touch, we made it to the back where we were kindly greeted with smiles by women happily knitting and chatting. They were welcoming and friendly and enthusiastically showed us their beautiful projects. This, as we all well know, is what knit nights are made of!
As a special treat, we brought some samples from the new Hikari collection by Japanese knitwear designer michiyo. We thought it would be fun to show the collection to Slip Knot’s “Night Knitters” before it goes out on tour.
Everyone enjoyed the presentation and even tried on a few pieces. The open front Kagerou vest was a particular favorite, though we all weighed in on each piece. Clare showed us how one garment can look good on many different body types and encouraged everyone to try on and show off the garments.
The Night Knitters at Slip Knot were warm and engaging and we were thrilled to see so many of their garments, both worn and being knitted, in The Fibre Co. yarns. Overall, it was a lovely experience. Thank you, Clare, for inviting us to your weekly knit night! If you are in the area and want to attend, Slip Knot’s knit night is on Wednesdays from 6-8pm. This was Linette and my first Knit Night presentation and we hope to do more at other shops in the area!
