Designer Feature: Solas by Ysolda Teague

The designs in Ysolda Teague’s 3rd annual gift collection, Knitworthy 3, have recently become available as individual PDF downloads. Intended as projects with unique and special details destined to be well-appreciated gifts, her hat, Solas, is a lovely slouchy cabled beanie featuring The Fibre Co. Arranmore.

From Ysolda, in her description of Solas:

A slouchy bottom up hat featuring a simple, modern cable pattern. The moss stitch background is perfect for showcasing the texture of a tweed yarn — in this case a luxurious take on a traditional Donegal tweed. The blend of wool, silk and cashmere is beautifully soft with a sturdy hand that gives the hat body and structure. The pattern includes four sizes, with a scaled down chart for the child’s size.

Yarn: The Fibre Co. Arranmore: Finian or Orla, 1 skein.
Gauge: 16 sts and 30 rows = 4″ (10 cm), in moss stitch on larger needle, after blocking.
Needles: US 6 (4.0 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm).
Size: 17 (18, 19, 20)” [43 (45.5, 48, 51) cm] circumference, 7.5 (8.5″) [19 (21.5) cm] length.

Knit at 16 stitches over 4 inches in the lovely Arranmore, any size of this lovely hat and would work up easily in a few days – perfect for a last minute knitted gift!
