Independent Designer Feature: Medio Cowl

Laura Nelkin has done it again with another stellar pattern!  Check out this gorgeous colorwork cowl!

The Medio Cowl gets its perpendicular striping pattern from its wacky but totally approachable construction.  It uses three colors of our new Arranmore yarn to great effect: Bradan, Ciaran, and Brannagh.

Here are Laura’s own words describing this cowl:

Medio Cowl is another crazily constructed cowl (inspired by Brioche Bandido)… first two “halves” are knit in the round with a Fibonacci-inspired striping sequence. Then those two cylinders are joined together with a garter stitch center strip that eats up stitches as it is worked perpendicularly between them.

The Medio Cowl is written for two sizes, small and large.  The cowl shown here is the smaller size.  The larger size uses Jill Draper‘s gorgeous new yarn, Middlefield.

Large: Jill Draper Makes Stuff, Middlefield: Capiz Shell, Marine, Sea Ice.
Small: The Fibre Co. Arranmore: Ciaran, Brannah, Bradan
Gauge 12 sts and 20 rows = 4″ in St st, after blocking
Needles US 9 – 5.5 mm
Notions Stitch markers, Scissors, Tapestry needle, Waste yarn, 1 button (.75-1”)
Size 40 (60)” [102 (152) cm] circumference, 10 (14)” [25 (36) cm] high

Beautiful work, Laura!  I can’t wait to cast on! – MK
