The most recent issue of Vogue Knitting has arrived, and it has a new look and fantastic content! We are so pleased to have a design using The Fibre Co. Acadia in the issue by our friend Gudrun Johnston.
Vogue is hosting a Knit-Along for the cowl as part of their upcoming VK Live event in Minneapolis. I’ll be attending VK Live, and I’ll be casting on for this lovely cowl shortly – as soon as I finish my sweater for our Spring collection!
I’ll be using two of our new Fall colors of The Fibre Co. Acadia, Jack Pine or Thunder Bay (I can’t decide!) and Rosebay, with Sand as my background neutral.
If you’ll be attending VK Live in Minneapolis be sure to join myself, Gudrun, and Mary Jane Mucklestone on Sunday November 6th at 12:30 for a meet-up and KAL closing party!
Want a chance to win some of The Fibre Co.’s Acadia to make your own Fair Isle cowl? Let us know in the comments which colors of Acadia you’d use, and just for fun, let me know if you think I should use Jack Pine or Thunder Bay! We’ll choose one winner on Monday October 3rd.

I love that pattern! I would use Yellow Birch, Poppy, and Driftwood. For your color choices, I love the Jack Pine!
I love the idea of Yellow Birch and Poppy together. Thanks!
Use Thunder Bay. I’d use the same!
Congrats, Anna! You’re our random winner! Looks like we’ll have matching cowls in our future. 😉
Email us at email@example.com with your address and we’ll send your yarn on to you.
I think you should use Thunder Bay! Actually I love that combo and would choose them for myself to compliment my navy coat!
I’d use Jack Pine and Orange Storm with Driftwood for the neutral if it was for me. Of the two combinations you’ve picked, I’d go with Thunder Bay. I think it’s better with the Rose Bay than the green of Jack Pine.
I would use the Thunder Bay option and think you should as well…that groupng of colors is going to look great!
Thanks Kevin, and thanks for the nice tweet earlier!
I personally would use Thunder Bay because that color combination would match my clothing best. I think you should choose colors for accessories to either complement or accent your existing wardrobe.
I love the Thunder Bay combination! I think I would make one with Egret, Summersweet and Butterfly Bush.
Thunderbay because it goes with more skin tones than Jack. I’d also make it in Thunderbay, because with olive skin tone of look like an alien in the green of Jack.
Courtney, I love the Thunder Bay combo for you. For myself, I would use Mussel, Kelp and Egret…what a lovely pattern. I wish I was able to attend VKL Minneapolis but I will be definitely be at VKL NY.
I love the Thunder Bay combo, both for you AND for myself!
I would definitely go with Orange Storm, Egret and Kelp – though I think Pine Cone would also look awesome with Orange Storm and Egret. Thanks for the terrific giveaway. Savannagal on Rav.
Thunder Bay for me. I need more blue in my knits. For you – the Jack Pine, I’m interested in seeing that combo.
I would useThunder bay I just love a lot of shades of blue. The sand is beautiful and Rosie pink is just pretty.
So beautiful! I’m thinking Egret, Kelp, and Mussel would be a stunning combo…but the Jack Pine is gorgeous too!
Oh how lovely! I would love the second combo for you and me!
I love the JackPine set, that green is lovely. But I’d pick an entirely different set for me: Moraine, Egret and BlueHeron.
Hmm – I keep thinking I’ve settled on a colorway, but then a few more spring to mind. So, either: Blue Heron, Rose Bay, and Mountain Ash, or Poppy, Cormorant, and Egret.
I think I like the blue with the Rose Bay, so I’d go with Thunder Bay. But Jack Pine is gorgeous, too, so you can’t go wrong.
sea lavender, thistle and jack pine. Really amazing looking yarn, I have got to try it someday! I think you should go with Jack Pine.
I’d choose Blueberry, Cranberry, and Mountain Ash. It almost sounds like the beginning of a recipe! Even though I usually go with blues, i think you should use Jack Pine. thanks for the chance to win!
I would choose Thunder Bay, Thistle, and Egret. I think yours would be beautiful with Thunder Bay!
Oh I would knit this up in pine cone, poppy and sand. I’m currently obsessed with pine cone after pulling out a sweater I knit for my son that has pine cone as the main color, it’s just so rich!
I’m a fan of palette B, that blue sets everything else off so nicely.
You should use Jack Pine…what a gorgeous green!
I love Thunderbay! For yours and mine! Thanks gor the contest
With Sand and Rose bay
I would choose Jack Pine. I have a thing for green/pink combinations. You should try Thunder Bay. I think the colors will really pop with that color way.
Option b:Thunder Bay for me!! Option a:Jack Pine for you!!
I like both options, but if I have to choose one it would be Jack Pine. I guess I’m an "old Preppy" and like green and pink together.
Love that Thunder Bay! Option B
Love both color sets😀
Thunder Bay all the way, for both of us, as the name of the city I live in is Thunder Bay!!! It was clearly meant to be!
For myself I would use the Jack Pine, Sand, and Thunder Bay. I don’t know you well enough to really say what you should use but I would probably go with the Jack Pine combo.
Option B with Thunder Bay is my favorite!
Option B is my favorite! Love the Thunder Bay and Rose combo! For you, the Jack Pine? Both combinations are terrific. Thanks for the chance to be in the drawing… Wish I could attend VK Live…
Thunder Bay! It’s gorgeous with the Rose. I would do Egret, Poppy and Cormorant. Thank you for asking …. I’m holding thumbs. This cowl and this yarn on definitely on the ‘to do’ list!
I would use Egret, Thunder Bay, and Kelp–love blue and green combos! I think Thunder Bay looks great with Sand and Rose Bay in your combination too.
I love the Thunder Bay option! All are beautiful. Heaved loved the cowl since the first day I saw it in Vogue!
Jack pine with the rose looks so pretty!
I think you should use the Thunder Bay. I would use Mountain Ash, Thistle, and Blueleaf Birch.
I’d use blue heron, orange poppy and mountain ash, but of your combos, I’d do the jack pine–so pretty!
I would use Cormorant, Driftwood, and Yellow Birch. I vote for you to use Jack Pine.
I would use Jack Pine and Sand. I think you should use Jack Pine. The cowl is beautiful.
I would choose option A, Jack Pine, Sand, & Rose Bay, the ultimate Preppy colors!
I would choose option. B, blue is my favorite color, plus Rose Bay, Sand ,ultimate fall colors,
Pick option B! You could consider to use a gray color instead of the blue.
Option B with Thunder Bay is my pick. Bet it will be very pretty together.
I’m not very practiced with selecting colors that might work well together but I’m wondering if Rose Bay, Mountain Ash, and Kelp would work?
Would love to hear more from you about what to consider when choosing colors that
pair well in Fair Isle.
It’s a beautiful cowl, Courtney, and it looks like a lot of fun to knit. I would personally opt for the Jack Pine. The green of Jack Pine would make a beautiful complement to Rose Bay, and all three colors would work together magnificently! It all spells nature at its best!
I would pick Jack Pine for Courtney’s cowl.
But, I would pick the following colors to knit the cowl:
From your expertise with colors and knitting do you think these colors would work well together?
I very much enjoy your internet site and your e-mails.
It is a beautiful cowl.
My pick for you would be the Thunder Bay combination. For myself, I would choose Poppy, Cormorant and Egret. Lovely yarn!
I would use Thunder Bay, Mountain Ash & Cranberry and definitely think you should use Thunder Bay. Beautiful color.
