For those who love the craft as much as we do.

Meet Linette!

By Kate Gagnon Osborn on August 5, 2016June 30, 2022

We are pleased as punch to introduce you to our newest team member, Linette!

Linette joined us last month after a surprisingly difficult hiring process. The reason it was so difficult? Because all the people that we met were talented, creative, and interesting individuals who all had something valuable to offer. But in the end, we thought Linette best fit our needs.

And boy has she! She’s always got a great big smile on her face and is quick to crack a joke, but just as quick to offer a helping hand. She’s also a really hard worker with loads of photography talent, just check out her website to see for yourself.

We thought you’d like to get to know her as well, so we asked her to answer a few questions by way of an impromptu interview.

KW: When did you start knitting? And what do you find most challenging?

Linette: I started knitting in 2000, but my sister taught me how to crochet when I was 7, back in 1985. I find knitting lace patterns very challenging. There isn’t a pattern yet that I haven’t had to frog a bit. But I really love lace patterns!

KW: What is a knitting or crochet skill you haven’t learned yet but would love to master?

Linette: Colorwork! I really want to knit up your (Kate’s) Isadora Lopapeysa sweater!

KW: What is your favorite thing to knit?

Linette: This is hard to answer. I love to knit anything but socks! But I will give them another shot this fall and knit a pair for my father.

KW: How did you get involved in photography?

Linette: Speaking of my father… he always photographed me as a child; he photographed everyone! And he would always give folks their pictures after they came back from Kodak. People loved to get the photos and to have those memories, and my father enjoyed the whole process of documenting and sharing with others. He gave me my first camera when I was 12, an old Canon AE-1. I was hooked on photographing people ever since. It led me to major in Photography at Drexel University, where I met my husband, who is also a photographer.

KW: What is your personal style?

Linette: Ooooooh! I love style! And all forms of style, but when I feel like “dressing up” I’m drawn to vintage fashion of the 40’s – ’70’s. And I love costume jewelry from those eras too! I want all the clip-on earrings!

KW: What has been the most surprising thing so far about working at Kelbourne Woolens?

Linette: That folks call here for knitting help! And that you help them! Next surprising thing here, but not really that surprising because the yarn is gorgeous, but how much yarn moves in and out of the warehouse! And it’s no surprise that you guys are awesome to work with!

KW: Aww shucks!  It’s awesome to work with you too!

Linette is the most amazing photographer and person. She’s one of my favorite people of all time. You are so lucky to have her. I’m glad to see she is still knitting and crocheting, too. Makes me smile 🙂
