Inspired by the breathtaking scenery of Ireland’s Northern Headlands, The Fibre Co.’s newest yarn, Arranmore (Gaelic name: Árainn Mhór), is spun in a mill that traces its roots to the homespun tweed industry of 19th century County Donegal. What makes Arranmore stand out is its use of luxury fibres including fine merino wool blended with cashmere and silk, creating an authentic tweed yarn of the finest quality. And with a colour palette reminiscent of the wild Irish coastlands, this aran weight yarn was designed for makers appreciating the best of luxury and tradition.

All this week on the blog we will be sharing our journey of creating Arranmore with The Fibre Co.
We had so much fun working with the mill in Ireland to create our unique blend of fibers, and creating one-of-a-kind Donegal colors with the mill’s colorist, Norah. We look forward to sharing our story with you.
Our new Arranmore Collection of six sweaters and three accessories is inspired by traditional Irish knitwear. Our trip to Donegal in December of 2015 was spent visiting the studios and homes of many Irish weavers and knitters and we were inspired by every moment. The Aran weight gauge and texture of Arranmore create a rich visual landscape that allows simple shapes and stitch patterns to really shine. This collection is the culmination of our trip, and we’re so happy to share it with you.
The Arranmore Collection patterns are available as individual pdf downloads, as well as in hard copy printed form from your Kelbourne Woolens + The Fibre Co. stockist. Next week on the blog we will be discussing the pattern collection in depth, as well as sharing some new tips and tricks to make your knits the best they can be. Click the individual images below for more information on each design.
We hope you enjoy our new yarn and collection. We are so happy to finally share our year’s worth of hard work with you all.
