Color Stories: Wind-swept spring

Though we most often associate Spring with fresh green buds on trees, bunnies, tulips, and colored eggs, early Spring is bare, a bit chaotic and beautifully stark. The wind is sharp and howling, birds start to migrate north, storms wash debris to the shores, and it’s often rather chilly and wet outside, but the light is clear and bright, the sweet baby animals are being born, and change is in the air.

Spring is refreshing. It allows us to look up and around; to plan ahead for the summer instead of looking down at our feet trying not to slip on the ice. At this time of year, I’m in the final stages of planning my garden and the beginning stages of planning my summer visits to friends and family.

Parker Head by the incomparable Amy Herzog is a great Spring pattern. Its half-length sleeves and interesting neck treatment make this sweater both functional and fresh. It calls for DK weight yarn and it would be stunning in The Fibre Co. Acadia.

I love these bare, simple colors of Acadia.  They remind me of brisk walks in the morning sun, leaf-less tree -lined paths and the way light and shadows play together on cool spring days.
