The preview for the Spring Issue of Pom Pom went live last Friday, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share that I have a design in it – the Mysa Tunic.
The idea for Mysa came about both from the gorgeous mood board presented by Pom Pom, but also my love of flowy, muted tunics that were immensely popular this past summer and fall.
The tunic is knit with two complementary colors of Meadow and Savannah, Lavender and Sycamore. The subtle color and gauge change of the two yarns worked in 4-row stripes creates a light and airy tunic with a lot of visual interest and texture.
Both the construction of the tunic and style are a little different from my “normal” approach, but it is something I am really proud of and love! The tunic is designed to be worn with up to 4″ (10 cm) of positive ease and is knit in one piece from the bottom up. Once the body is worked, stitches are picked up from the bottom up one side, around the neck, and then down the other side, and the connecting center panel is worked with strategically placed decreases at the back neck for a closer fit. The vertical stripes are both flattering and add a visual interest and contrast to the horizontal stripes on the body.
once the center panel is complete, the center is joined with a 3-needle bind off, and then stitches are picked up to work the garter stitch neck band, sleeves, and hem.
