Our relationship with Laura Nelkin goes waaaaay back – she and Courtney met years ago when Courtney was first working at a LYS here in Philly and Laura was working at and designing full time for Schaefer Yarns. One of Laura’s first published patterns when she went “solo” with Nelkin Designs {web link} {blog link} at the beginning of the year was Cayden, a vest/wrap designed out of Road to China Light. Most recently, she published Perlé in the 2011 special issue of Knitcircus, Gifts.
Designed using the super saturated Lapis, again in Road to China Light, Laura highlighted the duotones in the yarn with beautiful opalescent seed beads. If you’re looking to try out Road to China Light – the scarf takes just one skein! – or have always been thinking about knitting with beads, Perlé is the perfect project!
As an added bonus. Laura is giving away kits and the .pdf of Knit Circus Gifts to 5 (yes, five!) lucky commenters on her blog. So, head over there, leave a comment and you very well may win! Good Luck!
Aw, and I remember meeting Courtney for the first time too, she gave me a copy of Parthenope one of her first self-published patterns that she knit with Schaefer! I still have it, and love it : )!
