Mount Katahdin is the highest mountain in Maine, and the end (or beginning, depending on your point of view) of the Appalachian Trail. It is now also the name of our new free pattern featuring our new yarn, Acadia!
The design, development, production and release of Acadia felt a little bit like climbing a mountain – maybe even the highest mountain – so it seems fitting (at least to us) to name a pattern featuring Acadia after one as beautiful as Katahdin.
Knitting this striped hat, though, is no rocky climb. Worked using two colors of Acadia, the hat begins with a 2 x 2 ribbing, then transitions into 3 row stripes. Additionally, a nifty jog-less stripe technique is used when changing colors, creating a finished look void of unsightly “jumps” in the sequence.
