When Laura Chau contacted us last year to order yarn for one of her new designs we couldn’t wait to see what she was going to come up with. We were not disappointed when we saw the new Knitty this week. Laura’s Darrin Cardigan is a great project to knit in the summer months, sure to be ready just in time for when the cool weather sets back in.
Darrin is knit using Road to China Light in the lovely color Hematite, a dark charcoal grey with subtle variations in the color. This cardigan is one meant for everyday luxury. It’s simple, comfortable design is one that will keep you grabbing this sweater off the shelf day after day. The way it is styled is just one of the ways this versatile sweater could be worn. We imagine it dressed up with a pair of slacks, perfect for chilly offices, or with a long maxi dress when the summer nights get chilly. The elegant detailing at the shoulders, which not only creates a lovely point of interest and maintains a nice shape and structure to the garment, is a wonderful and simple design element.
Laura Chau has been designing great knits on her website, Cosmic Pluto, since 2004 and is the author of Teach Yourself Visually Sock Knitting. She has published fantastic knitting patterns in various magazines, both online and print, and self publishes her own line of patterns, available as pdf downloads or as wholesale patterns for yarn shops available through Deep South Fibers!
Congratulations Laura on another great design! To download Darrin, visit the pattern page on Knitty here. For a list of stockists near you who may carry the Road to China Light, click here. Enjoy!
