We are absolutely delighted to announce a brand new yarn in the Fibre Company lineup, Acadia!
The view from Schieffelin Point, Gouldsboro, Maine
Named after the gorgeous Acadia National Park in Maine, Acadia is an absolutely beautiful, completely original and custom designed 2-ply blend of 60% merino, 20% baby alpaca + 20% silk, with a put up of 149 yards per 50 gram skein and a recommended gauge of 21-23 stitches to 4 inches. Like the well loved, Terra, the silk in Acadia has some slubbed silk noil, creating a subtle tweedy effect. In order to create an additional level of depth and tone, the baby alpaca we used is a dark brown, and then the heathered yarn (in fact, the blend created a grey tone) is overdyed in the duotones we are known for, creating a yarn with incredible softness and depth of color.
We hemmed and hawed quite a bit over the intial lineup, and are proud to present to you the thirteen introductory colors:
Driftwood
Sea Lavender
Blackberry
Wild Onion
Maple
Amber
Kelp
Asparagus
Bog
Granite
Dusk
Blue Heron
Summersweet
We see Acadia as both a beautiful accessory and sweater yarn and cannot wait for you to see and feel just how wonderful it is. Acadia will be made “officially” available the first week of July, so look and ask for it in your favorite LYS!
