Well, the show in Long Beach just ended and we’re happy to be back in the hotel room relaxing! Here’s a quick recap of our whirlwind weekend:
We got to the booth on Friday and before us lay a daunting day. Set up is always worse than any other part of the weekend, but after doing it so many times we have it down to a science. And, Anne Kuo Lukito of Crafty Diversions arrived ready to help us steam skeins and iron samples! Set up was happily interrupted by the lovely ladies at Interweave who delivered two boxes of Vintage Modern Knits to us! It was our first peek at our new book and we are so happy with it!
The photos and layout look fantastic, and Kate’s mother-in-law did all of the landscape photography.
And then, as if by magic, we were done! Time for a quick shower and out to dinner. We went out for delicious tapas with the folks from Fairmount Fibers, the Manos del Uruguay distributors. The food was delicious and we love the opportunity to brainstorm with other companies we love!
The next day was our book signing! We were so nervous, and Kate convinced herself no one would come.
Oh, but they did! We had 40 copies of the book to giveaway and they were all gone in about 20 minutes!
We got so many compliments, people were super supportive and loved the book. We had all the samples in the booth and it was so fun to watch everyone try things on and pick their favorites. From the response we got, it seemed people were really loving the Innsbruck Mittens and Legwarmers, Yvette Beret and the Ajiro Scarf.
We always love coming to Southern California and being able to see our west coast friends. It’s so great to be able to connect with the California shop owners and we can’t wait to see you all next year!
Now, back to the snowy east. Sigh.
Wonderful news! Bravo!
Nice work, you two! So exciting to see the book in mass quantity!
So very proud of you both!
I’ve been going to the bookstore every few days to see if your book was available yet! Just saw that you will be at Vogue Knitting Live at the Knitty City booth so I’ll be sure to stop by and with a little bit of luck, I’ll buy a copy of your book and have it signed by both of you 🙂
Minh, we hope to see you as well! We will be signing copies on Saturday at 2, but if that time does not work for you, the book *should* be available in the Knitty City booth all weekend.
