We cannot believe it has been four months since we posted a new free pattern!
Autumn in Garrison, {rav link here} is a beautiful top down lace beret featuring Canopy Worsted. It was always Kate’s desire to design and publish a worsted weight version of her popular Springtime in Philadelphia beret and finally this fall, in between writing, hand weaving and designing Jacquards for her Master’s Thesis, she was able to knit a few rounds each night and finish the design.
In a rare feat of perfect timing, it was blocked the day before a Thanksgiving family reunion in Garrison, NY and worn and photographed in the beautiful fall scenery that weekend.
Designed in the same manner as the Springtime in Philadelphia beret, Autumn in Garrison is knit in the round from the top down in an original leaf pattern. Decreases are worked into the last few rounds of the chart, then a final set of decreases before working the ribbing. The hat uses just two skeins of the soft, warm and drapey Canopy Worsted, and Kate already has plans to knit another one up, either in Organik or the uber-warm Road to China.
