Opus Spicatum is a new free pattern is up on Ravelry!
Both Courtney and I have very strong backgrounds in weaving and I have always been intrigued by knitting stitches that resemble woven fabric. One of these stitches is the many permutations of the herringbone fair isle pattern.
I modified the pattern a bit to enable integrated decreases at the crown and used just one skein each of two colors of Road to China in the WW to create a luxurious, warm, incredibly soft, yet totally affordable hat for the winter.
It is designed to be a slightly slouchy beret, but I could just as easily see eliminating some of the increases and making a more fitted hat.
Enjoy!
This is a beautiful hat! I love the colors you chose for the sample.
Thanks for post. Nice to see such good ideas.
