Made in Vermont at Green Mountain Spinnery, Alpaca Elegance is a woolen spun DK weight blend of USA grown wool and alpaca, 2-ply yarn perfect for cosy sweaters or warm accessories. Alpaca Elegance has been one of Kate's favorites for almost two decades, so when considering adding select yarns to our store, it was the first yarn to come to mind. 

The wool in Alpaca Elegance is Targhee (a cross between Rambouillet and Columbia sourced from herds along the Front Range of the Rockies) and the alpaca is sourced from younger animals from herds in New England. The blend showcases the drape and resilience of alpaca, elasticity of fine wool, and softness of both. The undyed shades (Cream, Chai, Cappuccino, Cocoa, Earl Grey and Dark Roast) are all GREENSPUN. Processed, dyed, and spun in N. America.

Kate and Courtney met while working in a local yarn store in Philadelphia, PA; Courtney was a new mom and Kate was in her final year of grad school. Together they founded Kelbourne Woolens at Kate's kitchen table, and have been working side by side ever since.
